“Everything he told me in his Five-Finger style proved to be right on the money!”

“As a guy who hires people all the time, I recognize how absolutely true RO’s job-creation method really is.  He “gets” it, and he does a fantastic job of explaining it in terms anybody can understand.  I love his writing style….”
          John J., San Diego, CA

“My task was to get “hired” by a writer’s agent, to help me sell my book.  I couldn’t get anyone to notice me!  RO used his Five-Finger formula to help me find the agent I wanted, and to get her attention.  Now, a year later, I’m a professional writer with a six-figure contract!  I’ll never doubt him again….”

Where did the Five-Finger Guide come from?

The Guide is the result of years of research by author R.O. Wray. As a job seeker himself and as a Hiring Manager, R.O. has used his own real-life experiences and observations to develop effective techniques for finding great jobs. For decades, he has helped colleagues, friends and family carry out successful job searches. Eventually, he decided to "write it all down" so he could reach out to help more people.

Check out this video, where R.O. introduces himself and talks about why he wrote the Five-Finger Guide.

Here's an excerpt from the book, where R.O. talks about the origin of the Five-Finger Guide:

The first time I looked for a grown-up job, I was getting out of the Navy at age 28. I read a few job books, got the resumes all prepared, talked to headhunters, did my research, sent out several hundred letters and resumes across the country, and then waited for the phone calls and interview requests to start.

Nothing happened. About 45 days later, I got one form letter thanking me for my letter. I remember being so astounded at the non-response, I thought maybe the mail in my town wasn’t working.

I was in despair. I threw out everything I had read, and started over, using the techniques and attitude and procedures described in this book. In 45 days, I took one five-day job hunting trip, had 13 interviews, and received 3 offers, one of which I accepted.

In the 20 years since then, I’ve learned an awful lot more, and I’ve explained my job–finding methods to hundreds of friends and potential job seekers. I call it my “$10,000 Worth of Advice in 60 Minutes” speech. In fact, I’ve given it so many times that I’ve grown tired of hearing myself say it. But every single recipient has been glad to hear it—everyone has said, “I didn’t know that—I never thought that way—I really appreciate this info.” Many have asked me to write it down. So, mainly because I didn’t want to hear myself say it any more, I wrote it down.
